Anna DiRocco Albia of Clayton, Delaware passed away on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 in Kent General Hospital in Dover. She was 84.
Mrs. Albia was born June 5, 1926 in Belleville, NJ, the daughter of the late Dominick DiRocco and Josephine Cieri DiRocco-Porpora.
She retired after 30 years of service as a school teacher in the Smyrna School District.
Mrs. Albia was a Charter Member and Life Member of the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a Member of the VFW Post 8801 Ladies Auxiliary in Smyrna.
She loved watching game shows, especially Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She watched the Lawrence Welk Show faithfully and enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas G. Albia Sr. in 2002, and two brothers, Phil DiRocco and John DiRocco.
She is survived by two daughters, Joanna Albia and Mary Anne Albia, both of Clayton; a son, Nicholas G. Albia Jr. and wife Frances of Millington, Md.; granddaughter, Stacy Nau and her husband Nicholas of Worton, Md.; grandson, Nicholas G. Albia III of Millington, Md.; a sister, Philomena Tribbitt of Marydel, Md., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends and family may call Tuesday evening, Aug. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Clayton Fire Company Building Fund, PO Box 1050, Clayton, DE 19938, or to the American Legion Ambulance Service Building Fund, 111 West Glenwood Ave., Smyrna, DE 19977.
