Carole Anne (Calvert) Lee, 68, of Smyrna passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 with her family by her side.

Born on April 30, 1941 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Calvert.

Carole was a graduate of Tolman High School and Katherine Gibbs College. She worked at the Pentagon, The Delaware Development Office, and the DAFB Wing Standardization where she left to start her own bridal consultant business, Cal-Art Originals.

Carole was an active member of Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Smyrna, and the Middletown-Odessa Garden Club, where she was a past President. Carole was also awarded life membership in the Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs. She and her husband enjoyed snowbirding in Panama City Beach, Florida. Carole also enjoyed photography, gardening and painting. Her favorite subjects to paint and photograph were beach scenes and her beloved sunsets. Carole had a kind heart and a gentle soul. She is loved and will be missed greatly by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Calvert and her grandson, Eli James Chafin.

Carole is survived by her husband, James A. Lee, her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Susan Lee; her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Tom Chafin; her brother, Robert Calvert, her sister-in-law, Nancy Whitlock, her sister of the heart, Ruth O’Laney, her granddogs, Cassidy and Maddison and her granddaughter (who is on the way). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and close family friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union Street, Smyrna, where family and friends may visit Wednesday evening, Jan. 27 from 7-9 p.m. Interment will be at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union Street, Smyrna, DE 19977 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot’s Way, Milford, DE 19963.
