L.M. “Arkie” Fulkerson of Dover passed away at home Thursday, August 7, 2008. He was 81.
Arkie was born December 21, 1926 in Lanty, Arkansas, the son of the late Lawson M. Fulkerson and Nannie Etheridge Fulkerson.
He was a Flight Traffic Clerk for the U.S. Air Force and a Korean War veteran retiring with honors after 30 years of military service.
He was a volunteer for the Modern Maturity Center, as well as a volunteer for the Food Bank of Delaware. He enjoyed walking, watching sports, and particularly enjoyed having morning coffee with the “Old Hardee’s Crew.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Josephine Fulkerson, and his daughter, Sheila Ann Field.
Arkie is survived by a grandson, Chris Field of Dover; a granddaughter, Michelle Field and her daughter Sara of Clayton; a brother, Billie Fulkerson of Kentucky; and a son-in law, Warren Field of Clayton.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 11 at 1 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call at noon.
