SMYRNA, Del. -

E. Allen Ford of Smyrna, Delaware, was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday July 30, 2008 and is now being rewarded for his good life on this earth by being reunited with his family and friends who went before him.

He was born on January 7, 1925 in Dover, Delaware to the late Raymond and Clara Remley Ford.

Having served in the United States Navy on the USS Thomas, he was a very proud veteran of World War II.

Allen was a member of the Kenton United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Post #8801, the Otter Run Gun Club (One Shot Fordy) and the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14.

He retired after giving 41 years of service to Playtex, Dover, Delaware.

Allen loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with nature.  He coached baseball, was a Boy Scout Troop Leader, served many positions at his church and loved telling stories.

Mr. Ford is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Hester “Hess” Ford.

Also left to cherish their loving memories are his brothers, James R. Ford and his friend, Joan of Smyrna, John “Jack” Ford and  his wife, Rose of Kenton, Delaware and their families, sisters-in-law, Laura Belle Davidson and Pat Downs and their families and the families of Raymond and Joan Ford.

Having been blessed by their father, grandfather and great grandfather are, Margie A. and her husband Rev. Leslie A. Ballinger of Laurens, South Carolina.  Christopher S. and Brenda Joyce Ballinger and their children, Lauren and Olivia of Honea Path, South Carolina.  Tamara A. and James Smith and their children, Seth and Shannon of Gray Court, South Carolina.  Joyce A. and her husband William C. Webber of Clayton, Delaware.  Dawn Michelle and Jonathan Edward Hartsock and their children, Tyler, Jarrett and Mason of Clayton.  Holly Lynn and Erik B. Foraker and their son, ‘Austin of Dover.  Matthew C. and Bobbi Jo Webber and their son, Nathaniel  of Clayton.  Wayne Ford and his wife, Valerie  of Smyrna.  Daniel Wayne Ford of Smyrna and  Jennifer and her daughter, Valeria of Puerto Rico.  Adelaide Britania Ford and her fiancé, John and his son Austin of Smyrna, Brandi Kathleen Ford of Smyrna and his church family and many loving friends who he was always proud to have and loved dearly.

Services will be Saturday August 2, 2008 at 11a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call Friday August 1, 2008 from 7 to 9p.m.

Interment will be Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 10a.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery  Bear, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Kenton United Methodist Church, PO Box 188 Kenton, DE 19955 or to V.F.W. Post #8801, 4941 Wheatleys Pond Road Smyrna, DE 19977.
