Lester Dana Boney, Sr. of Townsend, DE passed away on Tuesday July 27, 2010 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Md. He was 70.
Mr. Boney was born September 26, 1939 in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Ernest and Isabel Spearman Boney.
He retired after 38 years of service as a Freight Conductor for Norfolk Southern in Philadelphia, Pa.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and reading, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Boney; five sons, Lester D. Boney Jr., and his wife JoMae of Camden, David L. Boney Sr., and his wife Nancy of Dover, Dwayne A. Boney Sr., and his wife Lupe of Smyrna, Dean R. Boney and his wife Samantha of Townsend, and Dale E. Boney and his wife Rebecca also of Townsend; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Schneider and her husband Roger of Townsend; and eight grandchildren, David, Brian, Stephanie, Ashley, Dwayne Jr., Bethany, Alyssa, and Carson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 2 at 11:30 a.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Funeral services will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Burial services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Heritage Foundation, 214 Massachusetts Ave., N.E., Washington, DC 20002-4999.
