OBITUARY: Virginia M. Kruchen, 94

Virginia M. Kruchen of Dover passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 in Westminster Village, Dover. She was 94.

Mrs. Kruchen was born August 19, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Herbert and Angeline Brown Moore.

She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington for several years before retirement.

Mrs. Kruchen was a former Girl Scout Leader and a member of the New Castle County Women’s Republicans Club. Her hobbies included gardening, traveling and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Kruchen; a grandson, Christopher Gell and two brothers, Jason Harvey Moore and Samuel Moore.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandra K. Gell and her husband William of Middletown, Georgia K. Carter and her husband Temple of Smyrna; Catherine K. Huidekoper of Kingsport, Tennessee and Christine K. Sutton and her husband Warner of Honolulu, Hawaii, and her grandchildren, Tracy Gell, Genna Wisher and her husband Keith, and John Huidekoper.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m., in St. Polycarp’s Roman Catholic Church, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, Delaware. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter,399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Smyrna.
