    Violet L. McGinnis of Smyrna passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 in the Silver Lake Center Dover. She was 96.
    Mrs. McGinnis was born April 7, 1913 in Dover, the daughter of the late Denny and Edith Shorts Dickerson.
    She worked as a floor supervisor for International Playtex in Dover for 32 years before retirement.
    Mrs. McGinnis was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna and a life member of Citizens’ Hose Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary.
    Her favorite hobbies included camping and traveling.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin R. McGinnis.
    Mrs. McGinnis is survived by a son, Frank R. McGinnis and his wife, Betty Ann of Rehoboth Beach; three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
    Services will be Tuesday, July 7 at 1 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
    In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 330, Smyrna, DE 19977 or to Citizens’ Hose Company #1, PO Box 97, Smyrna, DE 19977.
    Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Smyrna.
