     Robert E. Halsey, of Smyrna, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. He was 73.
     He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of the late Herbert H. and Leitha Puckett Halsey.
     He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had been stationed in Germany.
     He and his wife owned and operated Bob’s Lock & Key, Inc., Edison, New Jersey for 35 years. He retired in 2001, and after moving to Smyrna, became a very active member of St. Polycarp Parish and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th degree knight. He served as an assistant Sunday School teacher in the PSR program, and was also a member of WBCCI, an airstream club.
     He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Halsey; and a sister, Cheryl Tierney.
     He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary L. Halsey; a son Robert E. Halsey Jr. and his wife Paula, of Toms River, N.J.; a granddaughter, Katelyn Grace Halsey, of Toms River; and a brother, James Halsey and his wife Marie, of Edison, N.J.
     Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Friday, July 3 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna. Friends may call at the church Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and again on Friday at 10 a.m.
     Interment will be privately held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Newark.
     In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to either: Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or to St. Polycarp Parish, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE 19977.
