OBITUARY: Constance Ives Faulkner, 86

Constance Kathleen Brenda Ives Faulkner of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. She was 86.

Mrs. Faulkner was born February 3, 1923 in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England, the daughter of the late Cecil Ives and Ada Chapman Ives.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, needlework, sewing, and reading. She was also an excellent “English style” cook. Mrs. Faulkner liked flower gardening, playing the piano and enjoyed old ballet, classical and opera music. She was also very interested in Olympic sports, especially figure skating.

Mrs. Faulkner was very proud to maintain her British citizenship, though she left England for the United States as a young lady to start a family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Randolph Faulkner; a daughter, Janice Sharon Faulkner; and a granddaughter, Erin Yonker.

She is survived by her loving husband, Randolph Faulkner; four children, Enid F. Yonker and her husband Robert of Smyrna, Keith Ives Faulkner and his wife Wendy of Smyrna, Colin T. Faulkner and his wife Janet H. of Camden, Delaware, and Kathy C. Faulkner of Smyrna; seven grandchildren, David John Yonker of Smyrna, Alyson Y. Gates and her husband Jeff of Smyrna, Jennifer Margavage and her husband Joel of Newport, Randy Faulkner of Smyrna, Christine Faulkner of New York, New York, Christopher Faulkner of Camden, and John I. Smith of Clayton; a nephew, Geoffrey Lloyd and his wife Rosemary and their children John Richard and Sarah, all of England; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m., in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street, Smyrna. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street, Smyrna, DE 19977 or to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904.
