David W. Morrison of Smyrna, Delaware passed away peacefully at home Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was 65.
Dave was born July 30, 1944 in Lancaster, PA, the son of the late Harold and Charlotte Busser Morrison.
He started his professional career as a social studies teacher and football coach in the Smyrna School District.
Following his career in teaching, he worked as the Regional Director of the Young Adult Conservation Corp in the United States Department of Interior.
Dave was also a co-owner of B&D Deli and Seafood Restaurant in Smyrna and retired as the Smyrna School District Transportation Supervisor.
He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.
Dave was a former President of the Smyrna School Board.
He was an avid gardener, cook and Phillies fan. Dave also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Whitehall Neck Sportsman’s Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Landis.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anita (Terrell) Morrison; a son, David H. Morrison and his wife Debra of Dover; a daughter, Heather (Morrison) McCoy and her husband Andrew of Smyrna; a brother, Harold Morrison and his wife Thelma of Emmaus, PA; a sister, Blanche Clime and her husband Jack of Mountville, PA; a beloved sister, Eunice Reinhart and her husband Stephen of Millersville, PA; his beloved friend, Ron Eby of Smyrna; his grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Abigail and Jordan; his special nieces, Sherlyn, Lynn, Michele, Jodi and Jennifer; a nephew, Steven, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Thursday, March 4 at 7 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
