Do you remember our nation’s history?
On September 25, 1789, James Madison proposed laws, which became the first ten Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
They were ratified by three-quarters of the states and became law on December 15, 1791. Thomas Jefferson had been a proponent of these Amendments.
Delaware, as the first state to ratify the Constitution, has one of the few original copies in our State Archives in Dover.
Our nation is about to undergo a revision or expulsion of some of these basic rights for our citizens! We shall just remind you of our First Amendment:
I / Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; [U.S. historic Judeo-Christian beliefs are under attack and ridiculed by government officials and prominent members of the media] or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press [prewritten questions are handed to selected members of the media or other attendees, for staged use in press conferences and media appearances by government officials. The remaining members of the media or audience are not called upon. The Fairness Doctrine, which prohibits freedom of speech in the media and from pulpits, is about to be enacted by the majority party of the two bodies of Congress.] or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. [Unfortunately, many times whistleblowers become victims.]
