Eric J. Green of Clayton was charged Friday with possession of drug paraphernalia and underage alcohol consumption after a traffic stop in Smyrna, according to a Smyrna police press release.

At 10:55 p.m. police stopped Green on Route 12 and South Carter Road after an alleged traffic violation, the press release stated.

“Upon making contact with the operator, the officer smelled suspected burnt marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle,” the press release added. “A check of the vehicle revealed a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana and further interaction with the operator revealed that he had been drinking an alcoholic beverage."

Green, who is 20 and lives on Huntington Drive in Clayton, was taken to the Smyrna Police Department, where he was processed and released on a criminal summons.
