The Eagles improved to 6-0 this season with a 65-53 victory Dec. 22 at the Rondae Jefferson Classic in Philadelphia.

The Smyrna High School boys basketball team improved to 6-0 this season with a 65-53 victory over Archbishop Ryan High School from Pennsylvania Dec. 22 at the Rondae Jefferson Classic in Philadelphia.

The Eagles took a 15-13 first-quarter lead and held onto the two-point margin at halftime, 29-27.

Then in the third quarter, Smyrna outscored Archbishop Ryan 13-6 and pulled away for the 12-point win.

Caleb Matthews scored 28 points to lead the Eagles, while Greg Bloodsworth poured in 14. Nalik Veasley hit for 12. Nahshon Sylvester scored seven, and Jaymeir Garnett added four.

The Eagles hit 23 of 26 free throws.
