The Smyrna High School girls track and field team won the Henlopen Conference Championship for the sixth straight year Friday at Lake Forest High School.

Naomi Bowser led the Eagles with three individual titles. She won the 800-meter race in 2:21.27, the 1,600-meter race in 5:23.17, and the pole vault with a height of 10-feet-9-inches.

She also ran a leg on Smyrna’s first-place 4x800 relay team with Destinee Ekanem, Raegan Sebastianelli and Sarah Larose in 9:58.20.

Lauren Summers won two individual events, the 200-meter race in 25.11 and the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet.

Summers also ran a leg on the Eagles’ winning 4x200 relay team with Saani Edwards, Maddy Keister and Shaneese La Mons in 1:43.14.

Maddy Keister won the 300-meter hurdles race in 46.67.

Smyrna’s Saani Edwards, Shaneese La Mons, Aniyah Black and Sierra Romaine placed first in the conference in the 4x100 relay in 48.75.

SMYRNA BOYS PLACE SIXTH

The Smyrna High boys track team finished sixth with 58 points out of 11 teams that scored. Dover won the event with 160.5 points.

Smyrna’s Elijah Taylor won the conference shot put title with a throw of 47-feet-11-inches.
