The Smyrna High girls’ basketball team has boosted its record to 10-2 after winning five games in a row this month.

Last week, the Eagles handily defeated Seaford, Woodbridge and Lake Forest.

The smallest margin of victory in those three games was a 37-point win on Jan. 19, when the Smyrna girls beat Seaford 70-33. Crystal Ross led the Eagles in scoring with 34 points, while Betnijah Laney netted 24. Alexis Fearrington contributed six points for Smyrna.

The Eagles topped Woodbridge 66-13 on Jan. 21. Ross scored 24 points in the win, while Laney finished with 23. Fearrington, Jasmine Hilliard and Jackie Jenkins each scored four points.

Smyrna defeated Lake Forest 80-21 on Jan. 23. Ross scored 24 points, Laney 20, Quontay Hicks 13, Lexxus Wilson 8 and Fearrington 6.

The Eagles were scheduled to host Polytech on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

The Smyrna girls also have a big home game against Dover on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The Eagles and Senators are tied atop the Northern Division standings with one divisional loss each. The J.V. game is set to tip off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, with varsity to follow at 7:15 p.m.
