Trailing by one at the start of the fourth quarter, the Eagles surged to a three-point win, 49-46, Tuesday, Feb. 2 on the road at Cape Henlopen.
Smyrna led 13-10 after the first quarter, but Cape bounced back for a 26-23 halftime edge. Smyrna trimmed that margin in the third quarter, but the Vikings still led 36-35. The Eagles outscored Cape 14-10 in the final quarter for the win.
The Eagles helped their cause at the foul line, making 15 of 19, nearly 79 percent.
Betnijah Laney led Smyrna with 19 points. Crystal Ross poured in 11. Jasmine Hilliard scored 8, Jackie Jenkins 5, Alexis Fearrington 4, and Quontay Hicks 2 for the Eagles.
Smyrna, now 14-2, has won nine in a row.
