The Smyrna High boys’ basketball team notched a non-conference victory over Salesianum but fell to Dover during last week’s action.
On Jan. 26, the Eagles earned a narrow, 50-47 road victory at Salesianum. Chris Oscar netted 18 points for the Eagles, while Andre Gibbs scored 13, Derrick Boyd nine, Matt Storck six and Nick Motyl four.
Smyrna wasn’t as successful in a road game at Dover on Jan. 29. The Senators pulled away in the third quarter and held on for a 66-51 win. Oscar scored 13 points for Smyrna, Gibbs finished with 12, Storck eight, Boyd six, and Amir Goher five. The Eagles and Senators will meet again on Feb. 16 in Smyrna.
Smyrna’s record stood at 9-5 overall after last week’s games.
This week, the Eagles are set to host Cape Henlopen on Feb. 2 and visit Sussex Tech on Feb. 4. Next week, Smyrna will host Sussex Central on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
