Gov. Jack Markell’s office announced the governor has lifted the State of Emergency for Kent and Sussex counties as of 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, and state government will be open in all three counties Tuesday, Feb.9.

Drivers are warned some roads remain snow covered, have icy patches and/or are not passable. Some suburban and rural roads, especially in Sussex County, have not yet been plowed and are dangerous to drive on. The lifting of this order is not a substitute for good judgment by individuals and businesses, and travel in areas with poor road conditions should be kept to a minimum.

Even with the end of the state of emergency, plowing by DelDOT, transport and emergency missions by the National Guard, shelters by the America Red Cross and power restoration by utility companies will continue.
