Delaware State Police, the United States Marshals Service and Mt Laurel, New Jersey Police found 5-year-old Zion Duprey early this morning at a motel in Mt. Laurel with his father.
Zion had been abducted by his father from the home of his mother and grandmother in Lincoln, Delaware in Sussex County on Saturday.
Zion's mother had a protection from abuse order against the father.
The U.S. Marshals Service began working with Delaware State Police detectives at Troop 4 in Georgetown shortly after the abduction. Marshals tracked his father, Angel D. Duprey, to a motel in Mt Laurel, New Jersey.
With the help of the Mt Laurel Police Department, Zion was located and his father was taken into custody.
Zion was in good health.
He was abducted on Saturday, June 27 at about 12:30 p.m., from his home in Lincoln where he lived with his mother, grandmother, and three other children. The father went to the home, walked in, grabbed the boy and started to leave.
The mother wasn't home, but the grandmother tried to rescue the boy. The father swung at her with back of his hand. He didn't strike her, but he was able to leave the home with the boy. The grandmother tried unsuccessfully to rescue the boy, but the father was able to drive away with the boy in his car.
State Police issued an "Amber Alert" about the abduction.
The car was found abandoned on Route 1 Saturday. The father and son were apparently given a ride by a passing motorist.
