Twenty years after starting RWM Embroidery & More in the downtown area of Smyrna, Bob and Pat McGinnis have moved their business back.

The new location at 62 W. Commerce St., where they’ve been since Oct. 1, is their fourth location. The company offers embroider, promotional advertising, imprinted wearables and much more.

“We were only in downtown a year and we started to grow,” Bob said. “We would’ve stayed but we couldn’t find a place big enough.”

After spending 10 years in the Smyrna Mart Shopping Center, their lease was up so the McGinnis’s decided to move back to downtown Smyrna.

Thus far, Pat said RWM has received a lot of positive feedback from the customers.

“Since we moved, we’ve picked up customers that didn’t know we were in the shopping center,” Bob said.

Having been open now for 20 years, the McGinnis’s contribute their long-lasting success to the relationships they’ve built over the years so they aren’t relying on foot traffic. “We’ve been a client-based business for 20 years,” Pat said.

RWM works with local schools, the fire company, state agencies, corporations and even ship from California to Maine.

The company may even expand on their services. Bob said they bought the attached Laundromat and may add something new to their business next year. For the time being, they are raffling off a 32-inch flat screen television to celebrate their 20 years of business.

As for working in Smyrna, Bob and Pat love the people and the Smyrna-area. Of course it doesn’t hurt that the two were born and raised here.

For Pat, one of the things she loves about their company is the people they’ve met over the years.

“We’ve met a lot of new people over they years that have gone from being customers to becoming our friends,” she said.

Now that they’re back in the downtown area, the McGinnis’s would love to see the downtown area thrive like it once did years ago.

“I love the small-town environment. Growing up, the town was good to me and we’re just trying to give back to it,” Bob said.
