The Delaware State Police have identified the driver of a one-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday, Sept. 1 near the weigh station between Smyrna and Townsend.
Robert Wyka of Dover was driving south on Rt. 13 in a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer near Anchor Inn Road when the accident occurred at about 8 p.m., police said.
Wyka's vehicle went off the west side of the roadway and into a wooded area where it struck three trees before coming to rest.
Wyka was flown by state police helicopter to the Christiana Hospital where he has been admitted in critical condition with severe head injuries, police said.
Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash. Wyka was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.

The Delaware State Police reported "a serious personal injury accident" north of Smyrna Wednesday, Sept. 1 at about 8 p.m.
The accident happened on southbound Rt. 13 at Anchor Inn Road near the weigh station between Smyrna and Townsend, according to State Police Cpl. Jeffrey Hale.
The preliminary report is that a motor vehicle striking a tree.
An injured person in the accident was flown from the scene by helicopter to the Christiana Hospital in Newark.
The extent of the person's injuries is unknown at this point.
Rt. 13 southbound was closed at the accident scene during the investigation.
No more information has been released by State Police as of Thursday at 9 a.m..
