The local cast directed by Pat Musto will tell the humorous tale of the Turpin family members who prove that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious.

Enjoy a delicious performance of “Dearly Departed,” a comedy written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, at the Smyrna Opera House Dessert Theater this weekend.

The Opera House, 7 W. South St., hosts three shows: Friday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 24 at 2:30 p.m.

The local cast directed by Pat Musto will tell the humorous tale of the Turpin family members who prove that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious.

Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpin's other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion. Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need, and finally, the funeral.

After the play, desserts will be served and guests can meet the cast.

Tickets, which include the show and dessert, are $16 for adults, $14 for Opera House members, senior citizens and military personnel, and $8 for children under 12. Call 653-4236, stop by the Opera House during box office hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or see the website smyrnaoperahouse.org.
