Camp New Hope, a nationally recognized program of Delaware Hospice, recently hosted two camps.

The camp is designed to help the children cope with the death of a family member or loved one. Discussion, projects and interaction with counselors were used for this purpose.

About 100 children ages 6-17 attended both camps. One camp took place in June at Lum’s Pond in Bear and the other in July at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Activities included memorial art projects, such as memory boxes, bracelets, tree ornaments and paintings. A camp memorial service finished out the week for campers and their families. During the service, each camper had the opportunity to make presentations to honor their loved ones.
