Officers were out in force July 15
More than 100 law enforcement officers conducted DUI checks at five locations throughout the state July 15, stopping 5,391 vehicles.
In all, officers made 11 DUI arrests, issued 24 seatbelt and child restraint citations, levied 16 drug-related charges, issued five cell phone tickets and arrested three wanted fugitives, Office of Highway Safety spokeswoman Lisa Flowers said.
Checkpoints were held in North Wilmington, Bear, Dover, Seaford and Rehoboth, she added.
So far this year, there have been more than a dozen fatalities attributed to impaired-driving.
