The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced that preseason lottery hunting applications will be available for the 2016-17 hunting season. Preseason lottery hunting applications for deer hunts in the Headquarters Area and for hunters with disabilities in the Island Farm Area will be available from Aug. 29 to Sept. 30. The drawing and notification to hunters will be Oct. 4.

The period for accepting preseason lottery hunting applications for waterfowl hunts for hunters with disabilities in the Island Farm Area will be Sept. 1 to Oct. 3. The drawing and notification to hunters will take place Oct. 7.

Any vacancies not claimed during the preseason lottery drawing will be available to hunters on a standby basis throughout the season through the website or by telephone. Hunters should check for updates on the website to learn when these vacancies will be released.
