Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge near Smyrna is hosting an environmental educational workshop on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The event is open to all, but it’s especially for teachers, Scout or youth group leaders, and prospective Bombay Hook volunteers.

Participants will learn about the refuge’s habitats, explore the tidal salt marsh, dip a net in brackish and freshwater, identify birds, explore the forest and learn about wildlife management techniques. Information will be provided about how to use wildlife refuge resources for school, Scout or youth group projects.

Bombay Hook is located at 2591 Whitehall Neck Road, off of Route 9 about five miles southeast of Smyrna.
