A Dover police officer on Friday arrested a 33-year-old Smyrna man on charges of driving under the influence.

Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that about 3 a.m. Feb. 24 the officer spotted Andron Hughes in a black Kia Soul stopped in the middle of the intersection of Bay Road and South Little Creek Road. The officer determined Hughes was operating the vehicle while under the influence.

A records check later showed this was Hughes’ seventh DUI offense, Hoffman said.

Hughes is being held at the Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, on a $6,000 secured bond on the DUI charge as well as other traffic-related offenses.
