Smyrna police detectives are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday night in a neighborhood on Daniel Road south of East Commerce Street, east of U.S. Route 13.

At 9:18 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 300 block of Daniel Road for a report of shots fired. Officers saw one unoccupied vehicle which had been struck and began canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.
According to witness statements, multiple shots were fired in the area, and unknown suspects were seen fleeing on foot. A Smyrna police K9 team responded to the area and conducted a search but didn't find any suspects.
As officers investigated, they found at least three unoccupied parked cars as well as one residence in the area were struck by the gun fire.
The preliminary reports indicate that no one was hit by the bullets, police said.
Detectives are continuing to process evidence and conduct interviews. There are no further details to release at this time.
