Bayhealth named Registered Nurse Lauryn Hamil its Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit Employee of the Quarter.
Hamil received the award based on nominations from coworkers on her unit.
The CVSICU Employee of the Quarter is a peer award that recognizes nurses for going above and beyond. Hamil, a night shift nurse, has been on the unit for more than a year. As a graduate nurse, Hamil is described by coworkers as a strong and compassionate nurse, who despite working some challenging shifts always does so with a smile on her face and a great attitude.
“She goes the extra mile for her patients every shift,” a nominator wrote. “I know when I’m getting a patient from Lauryn, they have had the best possible care, and I’m more than comfortable handing my patients over to her at the end of the day.”
Hamil worked as a patient care tech for two years before beginning her nursing career at Bayhealth. She’s driven by her patient outcomes and making sure her patients receive the best care possible.
“I love working in the medical field,” said Hamil. “I love helping our patients and working with my team members on the night shift. Bonding with the other staff helps make the night shift, and some tough situations, better.”
CVSICU is an eight-bed unit that takes care of postoperative cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients. Staff on the unit cares for patients at every phase of open heart surgery including preoperative teaching, surgical recovering and discharge.
