Kent County Levy Court Commissioner Jim Hosfelt has filed for re-election to the 2nd District seat he won in a special election in March 2017.
Hosfelt serves as chairman of Levy Court’s Finance Committee, where he oversees the county budget. Hosfelt served on Dover City Council until being elected to the county seat. He continues to work as the director of public safety and track operations at Dover International Speedway.
Hosfelt came to Dover after being assigned Dover Air Force Base in 1980. After serving eight years as an Air Force security policeman, he was hired on Dover’s police force, where he served for 26 years before retiring in 2014 as chief of police. He and his wife Sherry are 30-year residents of Kent County’s second district, having raised their two children, Jenna and Jacob there.
