Davion Scott, 15, is free on an unsecured bond.
Delaware State Police have arrested 15-year-old Davion Scott after he was seen carrying a loaded weapon in Magnolia.
Department spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said the incident took place at about 11:09 a.m. Saturday, April 14 in the area of McKinley Circle.
Troopers sent to investigate a report of a person in the area with a handgun spotted Scott, who matched a description previously given to dispatchers, Jaffe said.
Scott started to walk away when he saw the police cruiser but was ordered to stop.
As he did, he reached into his waistband, pulled a handgun and showed it to the troopers. He then threw it beneath a nearby parked car.
As a precaution, at least one of the troopers drew his weapon during the incident, Jaffe said.
Scott was taken into custody without further resistance, Jaffe said.
Troopers recovered a black handgun from under the car; the weapon was loaded with a magazine containing three 45-caliber rounds.
The weapon’s serial number had been removed, she added.
Scott is charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, resisting arrest, and tampering with physical evidence.
He was arraigned in the presence of his father before the Justice of the Peace Court 7, then released to his father's custody on a $32,000 unsecured bond.
