The woman who died is identified as Larissa Tallhamer.

Delaware State Police are reporting the death of a Smyrna woman in a late-night pedestrian crash.

DSP spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said the incident took place at about 9:56 p.m. Friday, June 15 on US Route 13, north of Fast Landing Road (Route 42) near Cheswold.

The woman, later identified as 25-year-old Larissa Tallhamer, ran across the highway and into the path of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, Jaffe said.

Hit by the truck’s right front bumper, Tallhamer’s body came to rest in the center of the highway. The Silverado’s driver brought the vehicle to a controlled stop in the median.

Jaffe said the 49-year-old driver, also from Smyrna, did not appear to be impaired. He was wearing his seatbelt, she added.

Tallhamer was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not carrying a light and was wearing dark clothing without any reflective material.

US Route 13 in the area of Fast Landing Road was closed for about four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The DSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident, Jaffe said.
