Jewelry taken during Dover home burglary
Dover police are investigating the theft of several high-end pieces of jewelry during a Tuesday burglary.
The incident took place between 3 and 5:15 p.m. June 19, at a home in the 300 block of Mifflin Road, department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.
The burglar broken into the house through a side door while the residents were not at home, Hoffman said.
Currently, there are no suspects.

Man shot in Dover’s Capitol Park
Troopers with the Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting in the Capitol Park subdivision.
Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said troopers went to a local hospital at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, to investigate a call about a person having been brought in with a gunshot wound.
Jaffe said troopers learned the incident supposedly took place in the 100 block of Presidents Drive in Capitol Park, outside the Dover city limits.
The victim was smoking behind his home and heard multiple “pops” and realized he had been shot.
He reportedly saw someone wearing a dark sweatshirt running into a nearby wooded area.
The man, who was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper chest, and then released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Felton man facing burglary charges in Greenwood
Troopers with the Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man on burglary charges.
Division spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe identified the man as 34-year-old Jesse A. Nichols.
The incident took place at about 8:28 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at a home in the 13000 block of St. Johnstown Road, Greenwood, when troopers were sent there to investigate a report about a burglary in progress.
Troopers found Nichols hiding in the garage area, Jaffe said. Nichols’ stepfather lives in the home, but Nichols himself has not lived there for three to four years.
It was later learned Nichols had entered the same property on June 6, and that several items, including a jewelry box, cuff link, and a Coleman cooler were missing. Troopers later recovered those items from Nichols’ vehicle.
Nichols is charged with second- and third-degree burglary and theft. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $1,496 cash-only bond.
Clayton man shot dead in Dover
Dover police are investigating an apparent homicide in the city.
Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said officers were sent to the Liberty Court apartments at 9:41 p.m. Friday, June 22 after receiving reports of a shooting.
Once there, officers found the victim, identified as Sylvester Lee, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to this upper body.
Lee was taken to Bayhealth Hospital’s Kent Campus but died there at 10:15 p.m.
This was Dover’s second fatal shooting this year.
