Brett A. Scott could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Felton resident Brett A. Scott, 26, arrested by Dover police after the June 17, 2017, murder of Dequan Dukes, is facing up to life in prison for his crime.
Scott, was convicted July 23 in Kent County Superior Court on charges of murder second degree, attempted robbery first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and conspiracy second degree.
He originally had faced a charge of first-degree murder, according to court documents.
During their investigation, Dover police learned Scott and three others conspired to rob Dukes while at his home in the Pine Grove Apartment Complex in the 200 block of Webbs Lane. One of the three lured Dukes outside on the pretext of setting up a meeting, but the meeting devolved into an exchange of gunfire.
Scott was shot in the chest, hand, and foot, and Dukes was fatally shot in the chest.
A Superior Court judge will sentence Scott to between 21 years and life in prison in September.
