PAWS for People will host PAWS-a-thon, a cumulative marathon throughout the month of September.
From Sept. 1-28, interested individuals can walk or run with their pets and complete 26.2 miles at their own pace and on their own schedule. The marathon is an opportunity to exercise and have fun with a pet while raising funds to support PAWS for People programs and services.
Participants can share their progress on social media with selfies and interesting facts. A celebratory PAWS Party for all will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at the American Legion Post 17, 113 American Legion Road, Lewes. Doggie games, contests, awards and vendors will add to the fun. The PAWS Party is open to everyone.
“Marathons happen every day. But not everyone has the endurance or interest in running or walking that distance all at one time,” said Lynne Robinson, executive director, PAWS for People. “Our new PAWS-a-thon cumulative marathon gives people an opportunity to participate in a marathon with their pets throughout the entire month of September. We think it will be fun for all while spotlighting the many ways PAWS for People helps those in need.”
