Saul Velez-Mojica is being held at the Vaughn Correctional Center
Delaware State Police troopers have arrested a Dover man after a fight that led to a stabbing.
Division spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe identified the suspect at 31-year-old Saul Velez-Mojica.
The incident took place at about 8:13 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at a home in the 800 block of Papen Lane. Troopers arriving on the scene found a 45-year-old man suffering from injuries to his face and leg, Jaffe said.
Additional evidence showed the victim had been in a fight with Velez-Mojica, who threatened to kill him. Velez-Mojica took a pitchfork and stabbed the victim, Jaffe added.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Velez-Mojica ran into a wooded area before troopers arrived, but was quickly found and taken into custody without further resistance.
Velez-Mojica is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, assault second degree, terroristic threatening and resisting arrest.
He was committed to the Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, on a $15,000.00 secured bond.
