Delaware State Police are searching for Edward Benson III, 37, of Townsend, after he failed to appear in New Castle County Superior Court on a violation of probation charge.
Benson was on probation after a conviction for first-degree assault. Police said he violated his probation Nov. 14 when he was arrested on multiple charges for weapons and drug-related offenses.
He was scheduled to appear for his probation hearing today, Thursday, Dec. 13, at 9 a.m., but it was determined that prior to the hearing Benson cut off his ankle bracelet monitoring system, police said. He didn't appear at court.
He was last seen leaving his residence in the 100 block of Esch Street in Townsend in a silver 2004 Range Rover with Delaware license plate PC28310.
He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds, police said.
