New Castle County Paramedics said one person was removed from a submerged vehicle and taken to Christiana Hospital.

The New Castle County Paramedics have released a report on the rescue efforts after a vehicle ran off of northbound Route 1 and into a pond near Townsend this afternoon.
At 1:12 p.m., emergency crews from New Castle County Emergency Medical Services, the Odessa Fire Company, the Port Penn Fire Company and Delaware State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision with a rollover into the water near New Discovery Road, said County Paramedic Senior Cpl. Ruoy L. Koontz
The rescue crews found a vehicle submerged in the water.
Marine and dive teams removed one person from the vehicle, and resuscitation measures were started, Koontz said.
The patient was taken to Christiana Hospital by an Odessa ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics.
Delaware State Police continue to investigate the incident.

As of 2:10 p.m., northbound Route 1 in the Townsend area is closed after a vehicle went off the road and into a pond.
Delaware State Police said the crash was reported at about 1:06 p.m., near New Discovery Road.
The investigation is continuing and more details will be released as they become available, police said.
Drivers on northbound Route 1 are being detoured.
U.S. Route 13 is the best alternative, police said.
