Democrat for 5th District Representative (unopposed)

Each candidate was asked to respond to three questions.

1.  What are the top issues you will address in your campaign and what are your plans for moving those issues forward?

Jobs  Safer neighborhoods  Reform and improve our public schools expand access to mental health services  Increase support and services for our seniors and the special needs population  Strong constituent services for the 5th District

Once elected I will partner with the constituents of the 5th District regarding these initiatives as well as other issues that are important to our communities.

2.  What makes you uniquely qualified for the political office you seek?

I am Mom, a Leader and an Advocate who is passionate about service to others.

I have dedicated my entire career to serving individuals living with disadvantages and life challenges. Having been born and raised in the city of Chester, Pa. in an extended family environment, it was through that experience where I learned the value of service to others. Those experiences were the catalyst and continue to drive my passion today.

I am an Executive Director at Elwyn, one of the nation’s oldest nonprofit organizations, and I lead a staff of 200. I possess extensive experience with managing and budgeting multimillion dollar contracts and am currently responsible for oversight of 21 programs in Delaware and Pennsylvania, serving over 1,100 individuals while managing an annual budget of 16 million dollars. I am an active leader who is constantly in the trenches with my teams and the individuals we serve. I plan to leverage my professional experiences as a leader, advocate and executive to serve the 5th District.

3.  What community groups are you involved with and in what capacity?

I have served on the Bear Crossing Maintenance Corporation board since 2011 and I am currently serving as the Board President of the Ability Network of Delaware, formerly known as DelARF, which is an advocacy group focused on nonprofit providers of Human Services. In accord with my passion for education I was also a member of the Gunning Bedford PTA, where my 14-year-old twins, Ian and Autumn, recently completed the 8th grade. They will be headed to William Penn HS in the Fall.
