Republican for 37th District Representative
Each candidate was asked to respond to three questions.
1. What are the top issues you will address in your campaign and what are your plans for moving those issues forward?
I plan to continue several initiatives that I have undertaken in the Legislature. This includes my efforts to support small business and economic development in Delaware and in Sussex County with sound fiscal policies and preventing over- regulation and roadblocks that stifle new companies and prevent existing businesses from growing. I will continue efforts to ensure we have adequate infrastructure to support workers and businesses such as broadband access, affordable utilities, and transportation improvements.
Equally important, I will continue to ensure we emphasize workforce development and focus on providing education and training for a skilled workforce through career and technical education programs for students and adults. Skilled workforce will attract businesses, support existing businesses and provide better income for our workers and economy.
I will continue my focus on public health and safety. This includes continued efforts to address the heroin epidemic as well as issues related to aging, homelessness, and transportation.
Finally, I will continue to be vigilant in protecting our hard- earned dollars and strive to balance the state budget without increasing taxes and seek transparency in process.
2. What makes you uniquely qualified for the political office you seek?
I believe I am uniquely qualified to represent this District based on my experience and success over the past 9 years. My diverse education, experience and knowledge enable me to understand the situations and to find solutions that benefit our community. I was raised on a farm, educated in local schools, and have worked and served here. My professional experience in both the private and public sector provides me with insight and understanding of many issues. I worked in the medical field and taught the same subjects in public schools as well as leading Human Resources in several businesses. Equally important, I have advocated for our community for many years. I am no stranger to hard work or in promoting our interests in Delaware! I have several legislative accomplishments that demonstrate commitment and dedication to our District and our State.
3. What community groups are you involved with and in what capacity?
I am pleased to continue serving my community as a volunteer in many organizations including: University of Delaware Sea Grant, Delaware Cancer Consortium, Healthy Women and Healthy Babies Taskforce, Boys and Girls Club of Oak Orchard/Riverdale; Sussex County Community Crisis House, Cheer Foundation, Fund for Women, Georgetown Millsboro Rotary, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce to and volunteer for the Distinguished Young Women program and several other projects in our Community.
