Republican for 40th District Representative (unopposed)
Each candidate was asked to respond to three questions.
1. What are the top issues you will address in your campaign and what are your plans for moving those issues forward?
My first priority is to create an atmosphere for jobs. This is done in many different ways. We must work to keep taxes low for business owners. We must work with business owners that are trying to expand and make sure the process is not stalled by state and county agencies. We must also work with our local towns to make sure that funding is appropriated for infrastructure projects. This will hopefully create an atmosphere that will allow the business sector to grow and open the opportunity for new jobs.
Another area of great concern is continuing to address the illegal drug use in our state. This ongoing epidemic must be tackled on all sides. From prevention to treatment and the prosecution of dealers, we must continue our fight on all sides. The legislature must provide funding for all three.
Addressing the issues of child support has also been a passion of mine. We will continue to bring legislation forward to assist in the collection of child support. This is a complex issue that will take the help of many state agencies and departments. Together we have to work for the common good of taking care of children.
2. What makes you uniquely qualified for the political office you seek?
I feel one of the greatest qualifications is your willingness to listen to constituents and help in the process of figuring a solution to the issue at hand. Being able to point the person in the right direction and walking with them through the process is valuable. It is important to simply be available (by email, phone, Facebook, etc.). representing the values of your district is vital and shows that you understand how your constituents feel about the issues that are dealt with at the state legislature.
3. What community groups are you involved with and in what capacity?
Laurel Chamber of Commerce, Good Samaritans, Delmarva Teen Challenge, Epworth Christian School board and Delmarva Christian Schools, Laurel Ministerial Association, leader of annual overseas missions work.
