The defending state champion Smyrna High School football team picked up right where they left off last season, defeating Delcastle 56-0 in the season opener today, Sept. 10, at Delcastle.

The Eagles put the game away in the first quarter by scoring 40 points.

Leddie Brown led the Eagles with four touchdowns, two on runs and two on pass receptions.

Will Knight scored two touchdowns, one on a run and another on a pass reception, and Ryan McNatt scored on a five-yard run.

Quarterback Nolan Henderson threw touchdown passes of 66, 63, and 16 yards for the Eagles.

Knight ran for five two-point conversions, while Brown ran for one and Keshaun Tolbert added another.
