Naomi Bowser finishes second for Eagles in girls' race

Smyrna High School's Tosin Ibironke won the Lake Forest Invitational cross country meet, while Naomi Bowser finished second in the girls' race for the Eagles at Killen's Pond State Park near Felton on Saturday.

Ibironke led all runners with a time of 16:58.2 over the 3.1-mile course. The next closest runner was Alex Horgan from St. Andrew's in 17:25.6.

Robert Eskridge finished 12th for the Eagles in 18:04.9. Cole Sebastianellie placed 64th in 20:40.8. Kofi Bame finished 65th in 20:42.4, and Aaron Lewis placed 67th in 20:51.9 out of 120 runners.

The boys' team finished seventh out of 17 schools with a score of 197. Sidwell Friends won the meet with 78 points (low score wins). Delaware Military Academy was second with 94 points, and Sussex Tech placed third with 112.

In the girls' event, Bowser raced through the course in 20:22.2, only trailing Emily Craig of Maryvale Prep who finished in 20:01.8.

Abby Mace placed 16th for the Eagles in 22:22.8. Reagan Sebastianelli finished 27th in 23:08.4. Cathryn Shahan placed 55th in 24:47.7, and Elcie Edmond finished 82nd in 27:07.2 out of 124 runners.

The girls' team finished sixth out of 18 schools with 175 points. Maryvale Prep won the event with 40 points (low score wins). Sidwell Friends placed second with 100 points, while St. Andrew's was third with 115.
