Sussex Central traveled to Hodgson Vo-Tech Saturday morning and had a tough time with the talented Silver Eagles, falling 26-6 in the 2018 season opener.
Hodgson quarterback C.J. Henry led the way for the Silver Eagles, connecting on three touchdown passes in the victory.
After a scoreless first half, Central and Hodgson remained scoreless until last in the first half when Henry threw his first touchdown pass of the game, finding Kam’Ryn Thomas on a 31-yard strike with just seconds left in the second quarter.
Leading 6-0 early in the first half, Henry threw his second touchdown of the game, finding an open Ny’Ghee Lolley on a short pass just outside the goal line to give the Silver Eagles a 12-0 advantage.
Midway through the third quarter, Henry threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Elizjah Lewis; after the a two-point conversion, Hodgson led 20-0.
Early in the fourth Central would finally find the endzone after a quarterback sneak from one-yard out by Isaac Barnes, cutting the Hodgson lead to 20-6.
Just a few minutes later the Silver Eagles would pull away for good thanks to a 20-yard rushing touchdown from Bobby Arnold.
Sussex Central will look to turn things around next week, hosting Queen Anne’s County (Md.) in their home opener Friday night at 7 p.m.
