Smyrna School District meeting Feb. 24 about referendum to build new school
The Smyrna School District is hosting a Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 6-7 p.m., about the planned property tax referendum vote which includes a proposal to build a new school.
The district has scheduled a current expense and major capital projects referendum for Tuesday, March 23. District residents age 18 and up can vote for or against the
The current expense referendum would raise $2,499,791 to support increased growth and ongoing district operations. The major capital projects referendum would authorize the sale of $20,908,800 in local bonds. The local bonds represent 23% of the costs for the purchase of land, construction of a new elementary school and additions and renovations to Clayton Intermediate and North Smyrna Elementary schools. The rest of the project would be paid with state funds.
